The Node.js & Get Data from the Web workshop happened on 13. & 27. March 2018 at Cultural Center Q – Club Tiffany, Ljubljana, Slovenia. As the interest for the first workshop was high we decided to repeat it and also publish the code and presentation for all of those who couldn’t attend.
At the workshop we reviewed the basics of JavaScript programming language and used that knowledge to gather the data (titles of the articles, links, images and sound files) from various lesbian and feminist web pages without a browser.
The workshop was made for total beginners, but it was also interesting for those who already know some JavaScript as we used Node.js and npm packages. In three hours we learned a lot of programming concepts, used Visual Studio Code and downloaded a bunch of files.
The presentation and code are available at GitHub.
